I went to the local patch to have a last look in on the geese before I set off on a trip to the Southern Hemisphere. Here is wishing they are still here when I return. If not hopefully they will have had a safe flight North again to their summer breeding grounds. Greater White-fronted Goose

On the road south towards the farm the mist was like pea soup again this morning. As usual all the heavy duty trucks were parked along the side of the highway waiting for it to lift. The off-ramp to Mesaeeid was choked up as cars and bakkies tried to squeeze past all the trucks already in the queue trying to exit the highway. Fortunately by the time I arrived at the farm the sun was starting to burn off the mist so conditions improved. It began to warm up and soon turned into a pleasant day A lovely splash of colour despite the misty overcast conditions early on as this Bluethroat popped out of cover in pursuit of an insect Water Pipit.
