I am not having much success with capturing birding images. I must accept it is not going to be wall to wall all the time. Hopefully it is the lull before the Spring action commences. Fortunately there is enough game viewing to keep me going with good sightings of the male Lions, the females and the two cubs, Hyena activity and regular visitors to our waterhole at the house to make it interesting My highlight of the week, this Yellow-bellied Greenbul. This is my first record of this species on the Reserve so a lovely tick for my list I think this is a Masked Weaver (Lesser or Southern) non breeding female, but stand to be corrected I came across this Dark Chanting Goshawk trying to catch a Crested Francolin. The Francolin was too quick and when flushed flew off and dived for cover into a nearby stand of reeds Dark Chanting Goshawk A Natal Spurfowl and its chick quench their thirst

The Sandy bend female has been busy providing for her cubs. She recently took down an Impala which they fed on for a couple of days. At one point she hoisted it up into a tree to keep it out of the reach of the scavenging Hyenas. The cubs are starting to become habituated to the vehicles which bodes well for future viewings The female relaxing out in the open whilst her cubs are busy feeding on the kill up in the tree One of her cubs comes to join her An inquisitive cub The female quenching her thirst at some nearby water
