This is a recent cell phone image of the collared male walking past my vehicle which shows the tight fit of the collar. After seeing this I lobbied to have the collar removed without success Whilst out on drive recently I came across the collar lying on the ground.I presume that perhaps whilst scratching his neck he managed to break the strap which holds the transponder in place. I collected it and brought it back home The collar showing where it broke The subsequent telemetry pings of the collar from our house where it is being stored in our carport A post collar image showing a few lesions on the neck and how his mane had been chafed. I am confident that over time his mane will regrow.
