One of our female Cheetah has bred successfully and has managed to raise three cubs thus far. She had taken down a young Impala ram and then called her cubs onto the kill. It was my first sighting of them, so very exciting to sit and observe them for an extended period of time. Thanks to Sandy de Beer for locating them and allowing me to join her at the sighting Four in the frame Cheeky The female was on constant high alert, frequently stopping to look and listen between bouts of feeding ID shots I have also tried to identify the three cubs using the bur method Bur on crown Burs on forehead No burs on face As you can see from some of the images. the cubs coats are laden with burs. I am curious to see how this is overcome
The African Hawk-Eagles have bred successfully. I observed a juvenile and a parent soaring the above the nest site. They circled higher and higher into the sky until I finally lost sight of them Juvenile underwing pattern Adult underwing pattern
