A quick stroll in the riverbed turned up an interesting mix of birds I mentioned that I had heard my first Red-chested Cuckoo of the season the other day. Well I have now also heard the call of the Klaas's Cuckoo as well. I managed this image of it camouflaged high in the cover of a fig tree There are a pair of Purple-crested Turaco's that patrol up and down the river in the tree canopy calling loudly. I finally got a fleeting glance of one of them out in the open against the skyline Another fig lover. The Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird A Little Sparrowhawk perched on a branch out in the open. This is an uncommon resident that is mostly solitary Another iconic species that you hear more often than you see. This Gorgeous Bush-Shrike gives me the once over from the safety of the canopy This Southern Boubou male showed briefly over before disappearing back into the thick cover
